Hurricane Katrina - New Orleans: Overview, Analysis, Aftermath ...
Following Hurricane Katrina and the levee that failed (Aug 29th, 2005), people are now dying due to the lack of aid relief, some by drowning, others by starvation, dehydration, from the heat or from lack of medical attention, old and young alike, babys, grandmothers and the infirm are forced to endure this. Some are even dying from sharks that made it through the broken levee but most of all, people are dying from central government's planned denial of care. Central government is the major hindrance to people getting what they desperately require, there are even check points set up on the escape routes to prevent people from leaving this quagmire and going to places where there is food, water, electricity and shelter! Likewise, those wishing to assist, ordinary/ professional folk, coming with food, water, aid etc are turned back and thus the situation is perpetuated.
It is quite possible that further major problems will result, much due to the '(deliberately) inept' handling of the crisis by FEMA/ Central Government. Loss of life will be far greater, damage to properties due to sustained water exposure will also be at a higher level. Resultant diseases from allowing the situation to fester will be more widespread. Various unpredictables/ unknowns such as the impact of placing Level 3 & 4 Bio Labs into such unsuitable surroundings may well take their toll, with the escape of some seriously dangerous biological/ chemical toxins into the environment. A similar case will apply to industrial operations, eg from stored chemicals.

The U.S government had initially refused the offers of help but now Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, has said "no offer that can help alleviate the suffering of the people in the afflicted area will be refused".
"Offers have been received from Russia, Japan, Canada, France, Honduras, Germany, Venezuela, Jamaica, Australia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Hungary, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, China, South Korea, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, NATO and the Organization of American States", the spokesman said. Katrina hit early on Monday 29th August, the levees broke in three places - along the Industrial Canal, the 17th Street Canal, and the London Street Canal.
Dr. Shea Penland of the Pontchartrain Institute was surprised because the break was "along a section that was just upgraded. It did not have an earthen levee, it had a vertical concrete wall several feet thick." It also seems that the broken section of the Industrial Canal levee was having "construction" work done on it recently.

Amazingly, nearly half an hour of this time was spent discussing whether or not the levees and floodwalls surrounding New Orleans were sabotaged. Many witnesses before the committee said they heard the levees being bombed and had several interviews taped with other witnesses.

Broussard: Let me give you just three quick examples. We had Wal-Mart deliver three trucks of water, trailer trucks of water. FEMA turned them back. They said we didn't need them. This was a week ago. FEMA--we had 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel on a Coast Guard vessel docked in my parish. The Coast Guard said, "Come get the fuel right away." When we got there with our trucks, they got a word. "FEMA says don't give you the fuel." Yesterday--yesterday--FEMA comes in and cuts all of our emergency communication lines. They cut them without notice. Our sheriff, Harry Lee, goes back in, he reconnects the line. He posts armed guards on our line and says, "No one is getting near these lines." Sheriff Harry Lee said that if America--American government would have responded like Wal-Mart has responded, we wouldn't be in this crisis.

DRAFT: FEMA, By engineering a continued and deepening crisis, hope to ensure that the citizens, as they die in their hundreds and thousands from lack of aid, cry out in desperation for martial law, then when Martial Law is imposed and things are seen to improve, FEMA can argue that it was Martial Law that saved them and thus set the precedent for declaring Martial Law. They may even go further and attempt to spread Martial Law across the whole land, as is their ultimate intent, this may well be the start of the take-over. There are other reasons such as the 'new' Eminent Domain laws which permit seizing of property for commercial development. In this instance, they are likely to be able to seize property for practically no cost (as well as obtain tax payer money to fund development).

No civilians in New Orleans will be allowed to carry pistols, shotguns or other firearms, said P. Edwin Compass III, the superintendent of police. "Only law enforcement are allowed to have weapons," he said.
Nearly two weeks after the floods began, New Orleans has turned into an armed camp, patrolled by thousands of local, state, and federal law enforcement officers, as well as National Guard troops and active-duty soldiers.
Many of the residents still in the city said they did not understand why the city remained intent on forcing them out. ... NEW ORLEANS - Gun rights groups won a temporary restraining order Friday preventing police in New Orleans and a nearby parish from confiscating people's firearms when seeking to evacuate residents.
U.S. District Court Judge Jay Zainey ordered the New Orleans Police and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office to stop taking weapons from law-abiding people and return any they already took in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
"In many cases, it was from their homes at gunpoint. There were no receipts given or anything else at a time when there was no 911 response, and these citizens were out there on their own protecting their families,"
